NIHE N Logo 2012Tonight is the grand reopening of Union Pool in Williamsburg.  After being closed for some renovations, the “new and improved” bar/club opens today with NIHE favorite Alana Amram and The Rough Gems headlining.

NIHE N Logo 2012Comings and Goings: After six and a half years here in NYC, Misty Boyce will be moving to LA some time later this year.  Misty has a big show at The Highline Ballroom coming up at the end of February, and I would not be surprised to see her play another show or two over the coming weeks.  If you were thinking of  seeing her, now is the time to do so.  But let’s give a big welcome to Arum Rae, who has set up shop here in the Big Apple.  Arum comes to NYC after spending time in Austin and Nashville.

NIHE N Logo 2012The hiatus The Madison Square Gardeners have been on for what seems to be forever is about to end.  The “six guys with three chords” (that’s what they called themselves on Twitter the other day) will be recording a new EP at end of January.  I don’t think it would to much to ask for the record to be followed by some live shows.

NIHE N Logo 2012Bryan Dunn, who album Sweetheart of the Music Hall was one of the delights of 2012, is in the midst of writing a musical about Evelyn Nesbit.  Given that the song Marlene off that record is nearly an entire musical in and of itself, perhaps this not so surprising.
